In addition to narrative twists and turns, some Flashpoint stories feature consecutive deployments in which players can’t repair or heal between missions, while others feature infiltration contracts that restrict the tonnage of deployable BattleMechs.īeyond adding over 30 hours of exciting Flashpoints to BATTLETECH, this expansion comes complete with three new ‘Mechs (including the highly anticipated Hatchetman), a challenging new mission type, and a new tropical biome for the biggest and most challenging BATTLETECH experience yet. Heres the content overview in short terms: Flashpoint missions. Its main objective was twofold: to introduce a wide-spanning new feature, the Flashpoints, and to add a cool new biome, the tropics. Introducing Flashpoints: high-stakes, branching short stories that link together mercenary missions, crew conversations, special events, critical choices, and rare bonus rewards to take BATTLETECH's endgame and Career-Mode gameplay to the next level.įlashpoints embroil you in the feuds and machinations of the various Great Houses of the Inner Sphere, and are designed to keep even the most hardened mercenary commanders on their toes. The Flashpoint DLC was the first major expansion pack for Battletech. I care about not losing my pilots so I try and not set them up in mechs or builds that are too risky, the Raven mission was easy enough given the rather weak enemies and the ECM coverage, but I can see things going very wrong if I were to face some heavies or assaults in just mediums if I can't set their builds up before hand.BATTLETECH's first-ever expansion adds new gameplay, depth, and over 30 hours of new content to your mercenary experience. In comparison to the procedurally generated non-campaign missions, Flashpoints are scripted narrative missions that are linked, often forcing consecutive deployments. Key Features: Flashpoints - Test your command skills in a series of action-packed short stories, completing extended contracts to earn big bonuses. Introduced with the 'BattleTech: Flashpoint Expansion Pack' DLC, Flashpoints are a series of stand-alone mini-campaigns for Harebrained Schemes 's BattleTech video game.

That's kinda the worst part I see in a lot of flashpoints, the restrictions are one thing, mostly just extremely annoying since I have to fly across the galaxy to get to the flashpoint only to THEN have them tell me the exact restrictions, so unless I have a knowledge of some average restriction weights and setup multiple lances at the ready for them I'd have to purchase mechs on the spot.Īlso the bit with the prototype mission was kinda annoying having to do a mission with 4 mechs that aren't my own at once all with 3 pilots not my own and the one pilot that is my own being in the Raven. To ramp up the intensity, some Flashpoint stories will feature Consecutive Deployments in which players won’t be able to repair their ‘Mechs between missions. Most of the time it's some crap pulse lasers or a part for a Griffin 2N, but by that point a single mech part is hardly worth the dead pilots and lost gear that meat grinder takes from you. Between a mission that involves destroying a convoy in only max 50 ton mechs while the OPFOR gets heavies and assaults, to a Target Acquisition where multiple lances drop down to utterly tear your lance apart, the whole damn thing is a grinder for a reward that never has been worth it.
